ABOUT
WHAT:
The Sandbox is a space for creative writers to connect with one another in the hopes of finding their ideal editing partners––other writers who are interested in providing feedback on their work and receiving feedback in return.
WHO:
The Sandbox is a branch of the 5C Wordsmiths, a network that aims to be a home base for the creative writing community at the Claremont Colleges.
WHY:
In a nutshell, feedback is important! As we all know, self-editing only gets you so far––at a certain point, you can't separate yourself from the work enough to make any meaningful changes. And giving feedback is equally important! Through the process of editing someone else's work, you'll gain a new lens through which to examine your own writing, and you'll learn new things about what makes a piece of writing stand out.

HOW:
Email [email protected] and be sure to include the following:
- A writing sample (1-5 pages––by providing this, you are giving us permission to share your sample with other writers interested in working with you)
- A code name (this keeps the process anonymous until a match is confirmed)
- Your code name
- Your preferred forms (long prose, short prose, script, poetry, etc.)
- Your preferred genres (realistic, historical, sci-fi, fantasy, horror, romance, etc.)
- Your level of editing experience (the more detail, the better)
- What you're looking for in an editing partner (be sure not to ask for anything you're not willing to give in return –– if you want an entire manuscript edited, be prepared to put in the time on your partner's full-length manuscript).
